Prophet Muhammad Biography

The biography of Prophet Muhammad PBUH is a long narrative that entails his life from birth to death, depicting his extraordinary expedition as the last prophet in Islam.

Early Life

Hazrat Muhammad, whose complete name was Muhammad ibn Abdullah, was born in the holy city of Mecca around the year 570 CE. Before the birth of Hazrat Muhammad, his father, Abdullah, was already dead, and his mother, Amina, unfortunately, died when he was six years old. After his parents’ death, Hazrat Muhammad was raised first by his grandfather, Abdul Muttalib, then by his uncle, Abu Talib. Despite his deprived childhood, Muhammad was known for his honesty, reliability, and intelligence. He was referred to as “Al-Amin,” which means the trustworthy one.

Prophethood

When Hazrat Muhammad was 40 years old, he had an extremely significant experience during meditation in the cave of Hira, near Mecca. It was at that time that he received his first revelation from Allah PBUH through the Angel Gabriel, marking the birth of Islam and the start of his prophetic mission. The revelation informed him that God PBUH was the only one – in the universe and that people should adore solely Him, that idolatry was useless, and that individuals should justly and mercifully behave with one other.

Opposition and Persecution

Muhammad encountered severe resistance from the Quraysh tribe who dominated Mecca and who profited from the Kaaba-centered pagan pilgrimage industry. They despised his message and persecuted him and his adherents, including boycotts and social exclusion. Nonetheless, despite the numerous hardships and obstacles, Hazrat persisted unceasingly in his ministry and continued gladly spreading the knowledge of Islam.

Migration to Medina

In 622 CE, as the persecutions only intensified, and his life was growing increasingly at risk, Muhammad and his followers finally migrated to Yathrib, later renamed Medina to commemorate the event (the city of the Prophet). Hijrat marked a pivotal change in Hazrat Muhammad’s life and laid the cornerstone of the Islamic lunar calendar. In Medina, Hazrat Muhammad formed a Muslim community that flourished and upheld fairness, egalitarianism, and collaboration.

State building and conflicts

In Medina, Hazrat Muhammad combined the responsibilities of a spiritual leader and a wise stately, taking care not only of the community’s spirituality but also its morality and practical viability. He composed treaties, solved controversies, and established the fundamentals of a just and solidarity-based society. However the Muslims had to confront military opposition from the Quraysh and other tribes; Still, Hazrat Muhammad won many battles such as Badr and Uhud.

 The fall of Mecca

After six years after his emigration (630 CE), Hazrat Muhammad triumphantly re-entered Mecca with the believers (his followers). Subsequently, despite years of torment and persecution at his hands, the Prophet forgave his enemies and declared a general amnesty. After that, they eradicated the idols from the Kaaba and re-established it as a monotheistic holy site. Muhammad’s conquest of Mecca represents the beginning of Islam’s rapid spread, as well as the Prophet’s relentless commitment to mercy and reconciliation.

Final Years and Death

Muhammad continued to consolidate the Muslim community and spread the message of Islam across the Arabian Peninsula. His last pilgrimage to Mecca was followed by a farewell sermon, in which he urged the community to be pious, just, and brotherly. He died when 63 years old in 632 CE after being taken ill in Medina. After that time, no longer were his followers expecting prophets but still considered themselves bound under his — Allah’s Messenger — leadership which influenced most Muslims everywhere.

Legacy

His teachings together with life led to the formation of Islam as a religion aside making a great impact on human history as well as civilization development, especially Islamic civilization. People should strive to behave like him being full of love mercy justice among other virtues hence they follow what he said as much as possible through recitations called hadith and actions known as sunnah. Currently, more than one billion people globally are Muslims thus making it second second-largest religion in the world after Christianity.
